6 Months of Visual Studio? For Free?
Monday, February 04, 2008

So you want to get your hands dirty with some Microsoft .NET development, but you don't want to shell out hundreds of dollars for Visual Studio up front, and you don't want to use the Express edition (also known as Visual Studio On Training Wheels).

What to do?

Well, you can get at least 6 months of full-featured, unrestricted Visual Studio goodness:

  • Download the Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition trial.
  • Use it for 90 days.
  • Download the Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition trial.
  • Use it for 90 days.

Both downloads are free, although lengthy, and the software isn't hobbled in any way (except for the 90-day expiration).
